The sixth edition of the title A Guide to Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing is strictly based on the revised Indian Nursing Council (INC) syllabus for BSc (Nursing) Program which was formulated taking into consideration the various recommendations of National Health Policy (NHP) and National Education Policy (NEP). Another major driver for the new edition is the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Eleventh Revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) and Mental Health Care Act, 2017, which has now come into effect. This new edition of the textbook covers BSc Mental Health Nursing syllabus prescribed in V and VI semesters, which as per the revised INC syllabus is split across 15 chapters, with 8 chapters being dealt with in the V semester and 7 chapters in the VI semester. Appendices include ICD-11 criteria, revised history collection formats, objective structured practical/clinical examination (OSPE/OSCE) templates, and latest drug guide. The contents in some of the chapters, such as therapeutic communication and nurse-patient relationship, nursing management of patients with substance abuse disorders, psychiatric emergencies and crisis intervention, legal issues in mental health nursing and community mental health nursing have been reorganized for better comprehension. A list of abbreviations has been segregated and presented at the end of the book for ready reference. It Includes Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) at the end of each chapter.
